The OMP racewear for Aston Martin F1 Team: comfort is the key during the 2024 season

After the summer break, Formula 1 is back in full swing to tackle the final phase of the 2024 World Championship. As of this year, the OMP brand is Official Supplier of Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, as the exclusive provider of racewear for the race drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, as well as reserve and test drivers. The key word is comfort. After more than half a season completed by wearing OMP products, even with some of the hottest Grands Prix on the calendar, Alonso and Stroll confirmed to us their satisfaction in using our suits, gloves, shoes and underwear.

“For us drivers, our hands and feet are the things that we use the most in the car. We have to be super comfortable with materials and the shape” emphasized two-time world champion Alonso, focusing in particular on gloves and shoes’ importance.

During the winter leading up to the 2024 FIA Formula 1 World Championship, OMP’s research and development department worked intensively to meet the requirements of Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, providing its top-of-the-line equipment, starting with the ONE SL suit, the lightest ever. OMP then introduced as a first for the British team the new shoes and gloves from the ONE EVO FX series, designed for maximum lightness and sensitivity when driving. These products, designed around F1 standards, are also available for purchase by amateur drivers who do not seek any compromise.

In addition, OMP created custom underwear shirts in terms of fabrics and colors for the needs of Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team. “My underwear is very comfortable; it’s like wearing a pijama, but it protects me from fire”, Canada’s Stroll explains with a very effective comparison. “My suit is very comfortable too, it’s really lightweight, and very breathable, even though it’s there to protect you from fire and injuries”.

Breathability is a crucial feature for any kind of fireproof racewear product, considering that in some sessions the temperature inside the cockpit of a Formula 1 car can exceed 50 degrees, putting enormous physical stress on the driver.

The Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team can therefore count on OMP’s support in the hunt for more notable results and valuable points to end the 2024 Formula 1 campaign on a high note. “These high performance items help us to drive the car fast, but also make sure that we are safe and protected when we are racing. So thanks to OMP”, Alonso concludes. This is exactly our mission when it comes to racewear.
